New Charter Building Company is part of Jigsaw Maintenance.

New Charter Building Company has become part of Jigsaw Maintenance.  As one entity, New Charter Building Company is no longer a stand-alone contractor but part of the Group’s Jigsaw Maintenance providing a first-class service across the areas we have homes.

Looking to the future, the technicians will continue to work seamlessly with their new colleagues in Jigsaw Maintenance, helping to support the Group’s Asset Management Strategy.

This is a new chapter which our technicians are looking forward to.

The Building Company was originally set up 21 years ago to support the housing stock transfer from Tameside Council to New Charter Housing Trust.  As a stand-alone business, it was the contractor of choice for New Charter, as well as carrying out external business for a number of other North West housing providers. Its services included responsive repairs, kitchen and bathroom replacements, full house rewires, full roof replacements, cyclical painting programmes, boiler and heating replacements, gas servicing and PET.

The depot at Globe Lane, in Dukinfield, was built in 1987 and at one point it had its own UPVC factory making windows for New Charter’s homes, a joinery workshop and glass shop for making double glazing units. The depot also contained its own recycling areas, to recycle old UPVC, plaster, metals and old double glazed units.

The depot will continue to be used by our employees who work there and also offering support to our technicians that operate across Tameside.  The branding will be updated to reflect the Jigsaw Group brand.

As part of the Group’s sustainability strategy and business aim to be carbon neutral by 2050, the recycling area will still be used and work will continue on ensuring as much waste as possible will be recycled.
