Foundation Funding Helps Feed Local Community

Jigsaw Foundation awarded £15,000 to Tameside East Foodbank, helping them tackle food poverty across the region.

The foodbank, which was established in 2012, operates in Stalybridge, Ashton and Dukinfield and provides emergency three-day food parcels to local residents who have been referred to them by local agencies.

Over the last 12 months, they provided 3,000 food vouchers and fed a total of 7,300 residents, including 2,700 children, in need.

More than 390 of these vouchers were issued by Jigsaw Homes and overall, they fed 819 of our residents.

In 2023, Tameside East Foodbank also spent £20,000 on food and this year this cost is expecting to increase to £30,000 so the Jigsaw Foundation funding will help them to cover necessary food provisions.

A special cheque presentation took place with Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Linda Whyatt handing over the money to the foodbank.
