Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Team organised a wide range of summer holiday activities for families and children across our communities to get stuck into.
In Chorley, Officer Tracey Townson ran a range of activities for local residents, including family craft sessions, with partners Woodchats coffee shop, Growing for Goodness, CFW family hubs and SVP Chorley Buddies.
More than 300 residents benefitted from the sessions and received fresh food market vouchers, packed lunches and fruit bags.
Officer Minaz Aslam organised a play day in Ashton with Ashton Pioneer Homes and children from the local neighbourhood had the chance to play swing ball, archery, snakes and ladders and giant Jenga.
In Miles Platting, officer Vikki Barry ran several activity sessions across August with children enjoying football, multi-sports, dance and crafts, as well as a free lunch.
Vikki also organised a bonus session for 12 children to go canoeing along the canal outside the Miles Platting Library with the Canal and River Trust staff.
In Crumpsall, officer Gemma Batchelor teamed up with charity Rainbow Surprise to provide arts and crafts activities, including grass seed head making and canvas painting, at Crumpsall Lane Primary School for local children.
And, at the Crumpsall Community Hall, the team from ‘121 Barber Therapy’ provided back to school haircuts for 105 children. Volunteers also provided free food and beverages for all the families attending.
Officer Martin Curtis teamed up with Netherfield Forum and Gedling Borough Council to organise the fourth annual Netherfield Playday at the St George’s Centre in Nottingham.
A total of 65 people attended and enjoyed various activities including drumming, circus skills and craft activities run by the Gedling Play Forum and individual artists. Everyone also had a free lunch funded by Nottingham County Council’s Holiday Activity Fund.
At Anchor Mill in Oldham, officer Asmina Choudhury and volunteer Angoura Akhtar held two art and craft days. Around 12 children attended each session creating drawings and paintings and enjoyed lunch together.
