It was a real community effort this summer when our neighbourhood engagement and safety teams, together with residents, Clean Care and the Hit Squad joined forces to tackle rubbish around the Smallshaw and Broadoak areas of Ashton in Tameside.
They were given an extra helping hand each week throughout the four weeks from Councillor Dan Costello as the teams worked to tidy gardens, reduce fly tipping and to help with contaminated bins.
It was aimed at giving residents a fresh start and to urge them to take responsibility for disposing of their waste. The teams provided skips, and gave out information on recycling as well as more details on the consultation TMBC are currently doing around their refuse collection service.
