Creative Community Cookbook Helps Fund Lunch Club

A tasty new community cookbook has been launched in Dukinfield by residents to help fund a lunch club.

The Peoples Community Dukinfield group has created the mouth-watering cookbook, hand-illustrated with 16 delicious recipes from local people, with proceeds going towards the weekly ‘Warm Welcome’ Lunch Club.

The club takes place every Wednesday from 12:30 – 4:30pm at the Jigsaw Homes Community Hub in Dukinfield for a small cost of £1. Residents have the opportunity to keep warm, make new friends and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal.

The group created the ‘Dukinfield Community Cookbook’ in partnership with Jigsaw Homes and The Royal Exchange theatre to help fund the lunch club. There are 250 copies available to buy on Go Fund Me here>> with donations of £6.50 or more receiving a copy.

The cookbook is illustrated by Samantha Edwards of Phoebe Foxtrot Illustrations and includes several delicious recipes ranging from lasagne, soups, cake and even actress Julie Hesmondhalgh’s veggie curry.

John McGlynn, Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, said: “This cookbook is a great way of raising funds for the group to provide homemade hot meals for the community and address the cost of living crisis so many people in the area are affected by.

“It is inspiring to support the group and Samantha, who together produced a brilliant book full of great recipes and fantastic artwork.  The book is available to buy which will be posted out to people to use and enjoy, knowing every penny raised helps people in need right now”.
