Digital Hub Launches in Tameside

A new digital hub has been launched at Gibson Terrace Supported scheme Tameside to help residents get online and access vital life-changing services.

It was opened by the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Michael Glover, and will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am until 12pm.

Residents can use laptops, funded by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement team, and access free Wi-Fi to help them search for available properties, look for work and access services such as mental health support.

Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Minaz Aslam said: “Not having access to a laptop or even wifi can mean that people find it difficult to move on with finding housing, work and external support. With the current cost of living crisis, we wanted to give our residents the opportunity to connect digitally to access essential information that will improve their lives.”

Cllr Glover said: “I am delighted to lend my support to such a valuable project. Through this hub, Jigsaw Homes is making it much easier for its residents to contact services, take advantage of educational and job opportunities, and stay in touch with family and friends. All of this is hugely significant in the digital age we now live in.”
