Funding helps keep pupils on their toes

A primary school in Dukinfield is keeping pupils on their toes thanks to funding from our
Neighbourhood Plans budget.

Lyndhurst Community Primary School on Hill Street in Dukinfield will be using the £2,000 we provided for dance lessons for more than 200 children from reception age to year six, with a dance teacher visiting the school each week from now until July.

This follows on from Little Rocky’s After School Club, also funded by £2,000 from our Neighbourhood team, to provide boxing lessons to 182 children last year. This was part of a plan to deliver health and fitness activities to the pupils to enhance their learning beyond the classroom.

Sharon Hall, Lyndhurst Community Primary School’s Business Manager said: “We have been working alongside Jigsaw and neighbourhood engagement officer John McGlynn for a few years now.

Our aim has been to provide opportunities to enrich the lives of disadvantaged pupils and forge strong links between our pupils and the local community“

Jigsaw Homes has funded our work with Little Rocky’s and the Dance Lessons. The sessions build their fitness, teach them discipline and they absolutely adore it! Since the dance lessons started the feedback from both the children and teachers has been amazing!
