Pupils Kitted Out with New Uniform

Children from Year 5 at Holy Trinity Primary School in Ashton have been gifted brand new school logo jumpers to help tackle child poverty.

Minaz Aslam, Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, organised the project with the school, and donated £264 to give jumpers or cardigans to all 31 pupils.

It was felt that Year 5 children would benefit the most from the new uniform so they could continue to wear it in their last year of primary school and the jumpers could also be handed down to their younger siblings once they leave.

Minaz said: “Holy Trinity is an area of high deprivation and child poverty. Some of the families whose children attend this school struggle financially so buying new uniform for their children are an added expense. Offering this support was very welcomed and greatly received.

“We have a great working relationship with the school and work in partnership to offer projects to the families such as cook and eat, school readiness programme, energy advice and support. We are also looking at setting up a breakfast club in the next financial year.”
