Acresfield Community Garden in Newton, Hyde has been revamped and made safe for all members of the community to enjoy, thanks to the Jigsaw Homes Hit Squad.
The team has supported work on the garden over the last three years and recently helped make it more wheelchair friendly for residents by laying down flagstones in the polytunnel for easier access. The work was funded through the Jigsaw Neighbourhood Plans budget.
Taking on board feedback from employees, residents and partners who work in the community, the Neighbourhood Plans help us target resources directly at tackling the main challenges identified in specific neighbourhoods. Through a range of activities we aim to make residents feel happier with their neighbourhood.
Jigsaw residents have also chipped in to clean up rubbish from the garden and make a safe space for local children to enjoy.
Pupils from Bradley Green Community School often visit to take part in gardening workshops and over the Easter weekend, an Easter egg hunt and craft activities were organised by our Neighbourhood Engagement Team.
Local children took part, with residents helping to hide eggs around Acresfield Community Garden and Newton Hub for them to find, as well as playing games and decorating their own Easter bonnets.
