Harvesting Food for Ashton Community Grocer

Harvesting Food for Ashton Community Grocer

Children from Holy Trinity Primary School have donated much-needed food to Jigsaw’s Ashton Community Grocer, ensuring residents have better access to nutritious and low-cost groceries.

The grocer launched last year and was set up by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Team in partnership with charity FareShare to provide affordable food to those in the community, including families attending the primary school.

Supported by Officer Minaz Aslam and volunteers from the grocer, the school children collected and donated essential foods including cereal, soup, and a variety of tinned ingredients.

Pastoral Lead at Holy Trinity Primary School, Lesley Ainsworth, said: “We decided to donate our foods to Ashton Community Grocer this year, as we know there is a great need in our own local area. We are aware that some of our families who attend school, need extra support, as day to day essentials are expensive.

“We hope in receiving our harvest food, this has helped a lot of people and has contributed to their weekly groceries.”
