Jigsaw Homes residents took part in creative skills and confidence building workshops at the Holy Trinity Community Centre in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Jigsaw Homes partnered up with Stute Theatre to provide three 2-hour workshops running over three consecutive weeks.
The creative, artistic activities aimed to help strengthen community spirit and boost the wellbeing of women aged 16-70 throughout Tameside.
Contemporary dance, creative writing and crafting activity sessions were available with dance artist Oliva Peers, award-winning playwright Cathy Crabb and textile artist Rachel Wood.
Minaz Aslam, the Neighbourhood Engagement Officer for Jigsaw Homes, helped organised the sessions and said: “It was great to see so many women get involved and they really relished in the activities, with many returning each week to attend all three sessions.”
Workshops were purposely timed to fit around childcare responsibilities and offered a flexible drop-in basis to ensure that sessions were as inclusive as possible.
Following the success of the workshops, those who attended will be invited to a live performance at Droylsden Library in May 2022 together with Stute Theatre to help bring art experiences to local communities.
