Keeping Tameside Tidy

Our Neighbourhood Engagement Team has been working hard to make sure our communities remain safe and tidy for our residents.

Over the school half term holidays, Stute Theatre Company hosted a storytelling and educational performance for local children, teaching them about the importance of protecting the environment and loving where they live.

Following this educational performance, children, parents, carers and local residents joined our Neighbourhood Engagement Officers Gemma Batchelor, Julie Fraser, Tanuja Patel and our Caretakers to carry out a litter pick across Hurst in Ashton-Under-Lyne.

The litter pick-up took place around our Hadfield Crescent, Palace Road and Leech Avenue neighbourhoods and all children received an ice cream as a school holiday treat.

This follows lots of work to tackle littering, fly tipping and general anti-social behavior throughout our communities.

Recently, Officer Minaz Aslam teamed up with Neighbourhood Safety Officer Ben Buckley, Paul Ellison, our Assistant Manager – Caretaking, and Paul Cassidy, our Building Surveyor, to upgrade our community bin store on Uxbridge Street in Ashton.

As the bin store was a frequent target for misuse and was later deemed a fire risk, the new storage system is now safer for our residents to use.
