Jigsaw Foundation helps community blossom

Jigsaw Foundation has awarded the Wild Flower Community Garden group £3,540. The group will now create a community flower and vegetable garden in the area of Flowery Field in Hyde.

With permission from Tameside Council, the group are developing a piece of land opposite Plain Pitt Street which is home to a neighbourhood of elderly New Charter tenants.

Equipment, tools, plants, flowers and other essentials that are needed will be purchased with the funding.

Everyone in the community will have access to the garden. It is the group’s vision is to bring the locals together so older and younger people can share skills and knowledge between the generations.

By getting people talking to each other and creating a sense of belonging, it is hoped we can help to make the community a nicer and more desirable place to live.

Jigsaw Foundation is an exciting £500,000 fund to support local projects run by charities, resident and community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and partner agencies.

There is still funding available for 2019 projects that will benefit our New Charter tenants. You can find out more or apply here.  Funding of up to £25,000 will be voted on by tenants through our Jigsaw Rewards surveys.

Jigsaw Rewards is an innovative online tenant engagement programme that encourages our tenants to provide regular feedback on services and plans for the future.  The website (https://rewards.jigsawhomes.org.uk) allows you to take part in as many or as few activities as you like and at a time that it is convenient to you. In return, you will receive points which can be exchanged for high-street gift vouchers or credits towards your rent account.
