This week (17-23 January) is the Big Energy Saving Week, a campaign led by Citizens Advice to help people manage their energy bills this winter.
We know that with the rising cost of fuel prices and the financial pressures caused by the pandemic, this may be a difficult time for many, and we are working hard to provide our residents with practical advice and support to save money and reduce the impact on the environment.
- You may be eligible for the Warm Home Discount Scheme so please contact your energy supplier to check.
- And you might also be able to claim a Winter Fuel Payment. If you were born on or before 26 September 1955, you could receive between £100 and £300 to help you pay towards your heating bills. Call 0800 731 0160 or textphone 0800 731 0176.
- Jigsaw can now also refer residents experiencing fuel poverty to HACT’s (Housing Associations’ Charitable Trust) Energy Hardship Fund which provides vouchers to help with gas and electricity bills.
- We still have a small number of our Winter Warmer Packs which include blankets and duvets for residents struggling to keep warm in the colder weather.
As well as reducing carbon emissions and helping the planet, it is estimated that the average household could save up to £300 per year on energy bills by being more energy efficient.
All of the tips in our handy Energy Saving Guide cost a small amount or nothing at all and, as energy prices are rising all the time, there’s even more money to be saved.
