Jigsaw Homes Group has launched its latest sustainability strategy, setting out the framework for how it will take action to reduce its impact on the environment.
The strategy reflects Jigsaw’s goal of becoming a carbon neutral business by 2050 and details how it will develop policies and practices to provide sustainable housing, reduce fuel poverty and cut carbon emissions.
This includes improving the energy efficiency of existing homes that fall below EPC Level C, no longer installing gas boilers in new homes from 2025 and upskilling its in-house technicians to maintain and install solar roof panels and air-source heat pumps.
As part of Jigsaw’s mission to be a carbon neutral organisation by 2050, the Group has recently welcomed three new fully electric Renault Kangoo vans to its fleet of asset management vehicles.
The vans, which are on lease from car rental company Enterprise Mobility, are entirely emission free and can run up to 186 miles without charge.
EV technology is an ideal option for companies looking to carbon offset as they ensure lower running costs and are a sustainable solution for organisations working to actively reduce their environmental impact.
Jigsaw Homes already has 39 EV charging points across its offices and depots, alongside more than 40 charging points at several new development sites and schemes for residents.
The vans were unveiled at Jigsaw’s Asset Management depot, Globe Lane, in Tameside with Dawn Reynolds, Assistant Director of Asset Management and Transport Manager Albert Castile (pictured receiving the keys) from Jane Williams, National Account Manager at Enterprise Mobility.
Dawn Reynolds said: “We are committed to meeting the targets set in our sustainability strategy and by working with Enterprise Mobility and introducing electric vehicles to our fleet, we are taking essential steps to reduce our carbon footprint. It’s important we remain dedicated to becoming a carbon neutral organisation by 2050 for the benefit our residents, our communities and our environment.
Jane Williams said: “We are excited to have been given the opportunity to expand our partnership with Jigsaw Homes by supplying them with their first fully electric vans. They look absolutely fantastic, and we are looking forward to seeing them hitting the road.”
